Abstract

Disease-associated malnutrition is a multifactorial clinical entity that represents a problem sustained over time with serious implications for the patient and for health systems. In addition to patient related risk factors such as the economic and sociocultural environment and clinical status, malpractice by healthcare personnel also plays a role in the failure to detect and treat disease-related malnutrition and its persistence.
