Plants for your pumps: uma revisão narrativa sobre dieta à base de plantas e doença renal crônica

Resumo

A doença renal crônica (DRC) é uma condição prevalente que afeta milhões de pessoas em todo o mundo. Os tratamentos convencionais muitas vezes não proporcionam recuperação renal, levando a um crescente interesse em intervenções dietéticas alternativas. As dietas à base de plantas têm ganhado atenção devido ao seu potencial para aliviar complicações relacionadas a essa patologia e promover a saúde em geral. Este artigo analisa a literatura sobre dietas à base de plantas no manejo da DRC no tratamento conservador, destacando seus potenciais benefícios no controle da pressão arterial, redução da inflamação, mitigação do estresse oxidativo e melhora do perfil lipídico. Discutem-se também os desafios e considerações associados à adoção desses tipos de dietas, incluindo possíveis deficiências de nutrimentos e ajustes de medicamentos. O artigo enfatiza a importância de abordagens dietéticas individualizadas, considerando fatores como estágio da DRC, comorbidades e necessidades nutricionais. Destaca-se, ainda, o papel dos profissionais nutricionistas na educação e orientação desses pacientes para padrões alimentares adequados à base de plantas. Mais pesquisas são necessárias para elucidar a composição ideal e a viabilidade de dietas à base de plantas no tratamento de indivíduos que sofrem de doença renal crônica no manejo conservador.
