Relación de la deficiencia de micronutrientes y su suplementación con la gravedad de la COVID-19: una revisión narrativa

La pandemia de COVID 19 causada por SARS-CoV-2 tomó al mundo por sorpresa y dejó a su paso millones de muertes. Con el tiempo se identificaron múltiples factores de riesgo para desarrollar cuadros graves de la enfermedad y que tienen en común un estado de malnutrición o un déficit de micronutrientes asociado. El objetivo de esta revisión de la literatura es exponer el impacto biológico y molecular del déficit de micronutrientes a nivel de la función inmunológica y el rol de la suplementación de estos en el impacto clínico en la infección por SARS-CoV-2 en pacientes con cuadros leves a graves. Se encontró que no hay evidencia suficiente para recomendar la suplementación de ninguno de los micronutrientes planteados y aún se requiere realizar estudios adicionales.
